Arty Farty Cherub Crib

Using the Arty Farty Cherub Crib template, here is the assembled product. This I have found, to be very popular and have made several for the new arrivals.

Materials

Arty Farty Cherub Cot template
3 sheets of A3 Card, I have used 290 gsm
2 sheets of clear Acetate
small off-cut of pretty vellum
Double sided tape and hi tac tape
PVA glue
Craft knife, ruler and cutting mat
scissors
Piece of craft wire
Brilliance ink pad in Orchid Pink
Embossing folder
Brayer
Peel-offs
Ribbon, embellishments
Fine thread

Step 1

Following the instructions cut out the pieces from the templates, I found the instructions with the kit easy to follow.

You can use A4 card for the crib, but if you are making the presentation box then A3 is needed.

I have assembled the sides of the cot first and embellished them. I used a piece of pretty vellum for the heart aperture on the base of the cot. I then coloured the headboard insert with the brilliance pink ink pad and stamped a small butterfly randomly. Then an outline sticker of a duck which I then filled in with Anitas 3D clear gloss just to give it a raised effect.

Step 2

Next I made the mobile to hang over the cot. I coloured the card in the same way as the headboard insert and stamped again with butterflies.

When placing the wire inside the main stem, I have found that PVA holds it together the best. I placed a heavy object on it while it was drying to keep it together.

For the movable part I have used pretty pink flowers. There are two of each on each hanging held together with hi-tac tape and a piece of thread in between the two. Hi tac tape again on the piece that folds under on the top part.

Step 3

While the mobile is drying I made a 'cover' to go inside the cot. For this I used a piece of plain white card, brilliance ink pad, brayer and cuttlebug new baby words folder.

Taking the brayer, I inked up the de-bossed side of the embossing folder (the flat not the raised side), placed the white card on top and put it through my big shot. When this is done, the ink colours the flat parts of the card and the embossed words remain white.

Using a pigment ink it will not stain the embossing folder and is easily washed off.

Step 4

Then I assembled the cot. I cut a 'base board' for the cot and placed the embossed cover in there. I also made a cot bumper by using a strip of pretty pink card and cut the edges with decal edged scissors although this doesn't show very well on the picture.

I attached the mobile with some adhesive velcro circles and angled the mobile over the cot.

Step 5

Again following the instructions, I cut out and assembled the presentation box.

I left the card white but using the same small butterfly stamp, randomly stamped them on the outside of the box in Brilliance Orchid pink to follow the theme through.

I added some of the same pink flowers to the front of the box, a few in the top corner and a few in the opposite bottom corner and added a pink organza ribbon bow attached with a hidden brad. Border peel-offs were placed around the apertures and again adhesive velcro circles holding the box closed at the top.

Apologies for the photograph, the light was bouncing off the acetate.
