Exploding Box

A great project to make, an alternative way to display your photographs.
Nb - Measurements and Instructions tjcdesigns 2006.

To make the Exploding Box you will need;

4 Sheets of 12' x 12' Cardstock
Bone Folder
Paper or Cardstock to decorate the box (I used the Basic Grey 'Color Me Silly' range)
Adhesive
Craft Knife
Ruler
Corner Rounder (Optional)

Outside of the Box

Using 1 of the 12' x 12' sheet's of Cardstock score 4' in from each side, you should end up with a cross of squares all measuring 4'. Cut out the 4 corners then using the ruler and bone folder fold the 4 sides into a box shape. This will be the outside of your box.

Middle of the Box

Cut the 2nd sheet of 12' x 12' cardstock to measure 11' x 11' and then score 3.75' in from each side and cut the corners as before. Using the bone folder and ruler fold into a box shape. This is the middle of the box.

Inside of the Box

Cut the 3rd sheet of 12' x 12' to measure 10' x 10' and score 3½' in from each side, cut off the corners as before. Using the bone folder and ruler fold into a box shape. This is the inside of your box.

Round Corners and fit together

At this stage, if you wish, you should round the corners of the box. Now using a double sided tape fix the bases of the box together.

Making the Lid

To make the lid of the box, cut your remaining piece of cardstock down to 8' x 8' and score in 1 7/8' from each side. Score as the box and turn over and score the corners. Fold the scored lines and using a strong adhesive (I used Diamond Glaze) glue together, to keep secure, use paperclips until adhesive is fully dry. Leave to dry.

Decorate your Exploding Box

Decorate your box to your hearts content! I used the Basic Grey 'Color Me Silly' range, nice bright colours to match the cardstock I chose. I'm going to put black and white photo's in which will show up nicely against the brightness of the cardstock.
