materials and stamping
for the basic treasure box you need the small Dancing on Air stamp , card of your choice , an ink pad , scissors ,ruler ,a scoring tool or dried up byro and glue. I only recommend Art institute dries clear.
For the victorian treasure box with medalion topper, you need the above plus : clear versa mark embossing ink, gold embossing powder, heat gun, twinkling h2o's or cosmic shimmer paints and ultra fine glitter in red and green. And lastly the beatiful Dancing on Air medalion stamp.(this can be used to great affect on it's own to make cards, I will be doing a project card.
Ink up your treasure box stamp with versamark ink, stamp onto cream card and cover with gold embossing powder.Heat, and repeat 6 times and cut out .

paint the stamped images
paint the stamped images using the paints and colours of your choice. I always stick to only 3 different colours or it looks to busy. A point to add hear is, the treasure boxes are handmade by you with love, they are not perfect factory made , and it's alright to have a bit of missed or flaked embossing, this will happen as you fold and score your box. The overall effect is supposed to be old victorian with character.

glitter and glue together
add green and red glitter , just enough to give the project a lift. cut the right hand tags off and score down the fold lines. glue the six sides together.
|
|
 |
|
form the box
cut out the hexagon shape from card. form the shape of the box as instucted and glue the bottom tabs
The card shape will help to make the box more ridged but I recommed two people for this stage and look down on the top of the box while resting it on a table.
Allow to dry and make your medalion topper if using.

Then working above them layer the 6 , form the largest to the smallest as show.

some other ideas
the blue box is a simple four sided box , with the design coloured in with pastel coloured pencils. I punched a hole in each of the four tabs and threaded ribbons and flowers through. These are a great size for cream eggs, and would make a lovely easter gift or they could be used as wedding favours.
The silver box was my dummy run. stamped in purple stazon onto silver card , it makes a great sweet holder and sits on my coffee table.

The traditional six sided box is beautiful and was a joy for me to make , but simple styles and sizes can be used to good affect. My tip is do a dummy run on plan card just stamped and when making a six sided box erole a friend or willing partner to help with the assembly.
