Bookatrix Mother's Day Card

Using the Keepsake Bookatrix board, I think this is quite an effective card for Mother's Day

Materials Required

Materials used are:
2 Pieces good weight A4 Lilac Card
1 A4 embossed silver card
Border peel off's
Off-cuts lilac/pink good weight paper and a piece of white vellum
LeSuh Butterflies decoupage
Silicone Glue or foam pads
Scissors
Double Sided tape
Glitter Glue
Flower Brad and ribbon

Equipment

Big Shot, Bookatrix embossing board and ball tool and Sizzix 'Mother' die

Step 1

Using the bookatrix board, emboss 1 sheet of lilac card on the largest size, then the middle size using the silver card and the third size down using the second sheet of lilac card.

Cut each one out. I find it easier to cut on the reverse side especially when using a patterned card.

Step 2

Layer the three cut out book pages with the silver on in the middle of the two lilac ones.

Secure with double sided tape.

Gently bend the cards back to create a rounded effect

Step 3

Cut out the decoupage butterflies.

I have used silicone glue to layer the pieces but foam pads can be used.

Leave on one side to dry if using silicone glue, about 20 minutes.

Step 4

Using your die cutter and the 'Mother' die, cut out the image using an off-cut from the silver card used on the bookatrix.

Taking your piece of contrasting good weight card cut out the same image again. Then several of the butterflies on the die.

Pop out the words Mother and the extra butterflies cut. Using the Art Institute dries clear glue with fine nozzle, carfully glue the letters directly on top of the silver base image.

Pop out the small butterfies.

Step 5

Taking the piece of vellum, tear a square which will fit inside the smallest 'page' on your card.
Using a cocktail stick, roll two opposite corners to make a scroll.

Using a small piece of double sided tape in the centre of the vellum attach to the right hand page.

Step 6

To assemble the card, stick the decoupage at an angle on the left hand side of the bookatrix using tape or glue.

On the vellum square, place the 'Mother'die cut in the centre covering the tape holding the vellum in place so that this is not noticable. With the small cut out butterflies, gently bend the wings up and attach using the Art Institute glue with a small amount on the central body part of the butterfly. Randomly place on your 'book'. The butterfly just above the wording, has two layers on it.

When the glue is dry, take your iridescent glitter glue and just hi-light the edges of the wings and parts of the butterfly decoupage.

Attach the ribbon down the centre by using a flower brad to secure at the top.
